Audio & Video Allowed? Empty Audio & Video Allowed?

Post by StevenWS Sat Aug 02, 2014 9:00 pm

Does anyone know if I can put up audio video cameras on a clients property and record people that trespass and commit petty crime or just loiter on the property? I am thinking I can but can not use the audio in court.

What do you think or where can I get info. We are in Alberta.

As far as Criminal Code of Canada goes, as long as your are not viewing the properties of others or view places on your property where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy (washroom, change room etc) then view away. Their may be local requirements for posted notices of the cameras.

I don't think there is a university across Canada that doesn't use them inside and out. Most hospitals use them.

You can but you will have to give a valid reason for put up audio video cameras on a clients property.
