RE-Cert
In Yukon, `re-cert' must be done annually. Its a laborious process ha ha, Hopefully, next time for me things will run smoother.

Here in the Northwest Territories we do not have any legislation for the security industry. We did back in the late 1980s. It was called the Locksmith, Security Guard and Other Security Occupations act. That law has since been repealed. Nunavut also does not regulate private security, the only one of the three territories that regulate private security is the Yukon.

Further to Admin's post, anyone working in the industry prior to June 1, 2011 was grandfathered into the SSIA in Alberta. Thankfully, I was one of those guys. You'll need to renew, not re-certify, your guard card BEFORE your expiry date. Otherwise, if you let it lapse, you'll have to take the ABST course all over again.
I know that the gov't sends out renewal reminders now through your email and possibly snail mail, letting you know when to start the process, but keep in mind, at least in Alberta, getting a clearance check through Calgary Police has gotten longer and longer. I've been told this is because the same agency that does CPIC checks are now doing background checks on all refugees that come into the country.
Sorry for the long response, I'm on nights and a little bored.
