How do I become a security guard in Canada?

Training is one of the most common components of obtaining a security guard licence in any province in Canada. The general process to become a licensed guard is to complete the required number of hours of provincially approved training, write and pass the test, and apply for a security licence.

Are security guards allowed to touch you Canada?

Security guards can use reasonable force to arrest you and to hold you until the police arrive. Once a security guard has arrested you, they cannot change their mind and “unarrest” you. ... they inform you that you're under arrest. they touch you in a way that exerts some force (does not have to be excessive)

What qualifications do I need to be a security guard?

What do I need to do to become a security officer?

    • be aged 18 or over.
    • pass identity and criminal record checks.
    • complete relevant approved SIA training.
    • You can take an approved SIA course at a college or training centre before applying for work.

Levels of Security Guard Training Explained

    • Level II Security Guard. A level II security guard is the beginning option when it comes to becoming a trained Security Guard. ...
    • Level III Security Guard. A level III security guard has all of the same job opportunities that a level II security guard has, but they can be armed as well. ...
    • Level IV Security Guard.

Is it easy to get a security job?

It is possible to get a security officer job with no experience. Some employers do not require prior work experience, though many prefer it. Employers will provide job training for new hires, whether or not the candidate has experience.

Why do security guards get paid so little?

It pays low, because working as an entry level security gaurd is menial labor that nearly anyone can do. Because they require little training, education or skill.
