I agree, we cannot help others if we are incapacitated. I also learned this in my First-Aid-CPR training. One thing they said was `threat assessment' regarding our immediate surroundings and the person in distress(or seems to be).

Protection of kids on the Net, re: OP, yes this is important too. I have been on the Net for over 20 years, so I strongly believe I can be of help here.

I totally agree with your point. If you have been the Net for over 20 years, no doubt you definitely can be of helpful here.

Yep, and one thing I have learned from police sources is that: `don't be a crusader' against the `baddies' of the Net, those that seem to be `pedos'. If you follow them, you could be caught up in a police dragnet! While you were doing this for the right reasons, you will have a lot of `splaining to do.
A PM to the admin is the best thing to do, and let them contact the proper authorities, if needed.

 As well, there are the phonies, that just want to unnerve people, these too can be contacted by admin, or mods, checked out, and then told to `cease and desist'.
