McDonald's shooting on Danforth leaves 2 dead

Witness describes angry confrontation minutes before early morning shooting

.....So here we have an armed security guard, off site, involved in a fatal shooting. I can see the truck-load of crap hitting the fan already.

Right or Wrong the issues will be:

-armed security guard
-off site with firearm
-justification in using deadly force

In Ontario there are regulations governing reasons security can be armed. Being a valuable courier or protecting a valuables site (money, diamonds...). The regs also cover the where and when you can carry.

In this case he was off site simply to get food. I doubt he was covered to carry off the site except to and from work.

Now enter the liability aspect. Both for the guard and the company he works for. Trust me, that issue will surface at some point in this.

I am not slamming the guard. But those who take on the "armed" security duties MUST be fully cognoscente of the risk and responsibilities.

I saw This news in CBC news. But the best part was no one else in the restaurant was injured.
